DHUWA pronounced dee-wah, is a modern Indigenous business and the perfect brew in any language. Indigenous-owned and operated in Griffiths Bros Coffee Roaster, DHUWA pairs the oldest culture in the world with Australia’s oldest coffee roaster to deliver premium coffee to home baristas.

DHUWA was founded over a shared passion of rich traditions, great coffee and the opportunity to create a more equitable society for everyone. Co-founders include Shawn Andrews, a descendant of the Mununjali people of SE Queensland and the Palawa people of Tasmania. Adam Williams is a Wiradjuri man who grew up on Darug land and now resides in Quandamooka country. Peter Patisteas and Chris Togias are Australian-born with migrant parents, and second-generation coffee roasters. at Griffiths Bros Coffee Roasters est. 1879.

  • What does yalnun mean? Yalnun (yal-nun) refers to the shine of the sun in Yugambeh language.
  • What does their Artwork on packaging represent?Β The story of Mundgarra – Rainbow Serpent is inspired by the vibrant sandstone cliff of Carnarvon Gorge in the central highlands of Queensland. The long, sinuous form throughout the painting represents the rainbow serpent Mundgarra, an Indigenous creator deity, culture hero and ancestral being. Mundgarra created the cliffs, mountains and rivers of Carnarvon Gorge and embodies the true sense of DHUWA. Artist Jyi Lawton.
